I am from Irvine but yes my story is the same as yours. When I started selling on Amazon I never got any orders in the first 3 weeks even after PPC. A new product always takes time because it has no review or rating. Everyone started with Zero and now they are getting millions of sales.

I hope my comment helps drive some traction to this post so other sellers might chime in with their story, but in the meantime, I would recommend taking the time to go through Amazon Seller University resources on getting started with FBA, and being sure to review FBA policies and requirements in depth before sending in any shipments!
