Brand Registry Verification Code

I applied for amazon brand registry last week and they have sent the OTP to the trademark correspondent. The guy was our attorney until late 2021. He has since retired and is no longer practicing law. We attempted to reach him via email, but the message bounced back as his email address is inactive. How can I get the CODE to our new attorney's email or resolve this issue?

The only way that Amazon would have done that that I can see is that you still have the 'retired' attorney as the contact at the USPTO. If that is the case, you need to change that immediately.

If they ever lose their law license due to not taking any required continuing ed training (or other reasons) it could put them on the disqualified list at the USPTO which would effectively kill your application to Amazon, perhaps permanently.

Hello @Seller_wmvbx7ys1s629,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager team and I am sorry to read about the situation you are currently in.

I can grab more detail if you provide the case ID, but I can provide some general guidance without it as well.

This verification step is a requirement and is based on the information that resides with the trademark office of your TM. Since you mentioned that the attorney on record is no longer practicing, I recommend updating the information on your Trademark and once that update is live on the TM, you can reapply. Without the verification, the application will be rejected.

For more on this, feel free to take a look at the Amazon Brand Registry Application Guide, section 5.1 (page 9) and even more specifically, the paragraph just above the box in the middle of the page will be your best resource to better understand the representative on your trademark record.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best, Dougal
