Set your return preferences

The Return Settings page allows you to adjust your settings for each store that you sell in.

General Settings

Store: You can identify the store for the settings you would like to edit in the store column.

Return Authorization: Amazon automatically authorizes return requests that fall within Amazon’s return policy (go to Manage Returns for exemptions). For stores where automatic return authorization is not mandatory, you will have the option to manually review and authorize incoming return requests.

  • In Policy (Amazon): Amazon will automatically authorize all return requests that meet Amazon policy (with the exception of items from exempt categories).
  • Manual (seller): You will manually authorize all return requests.

Amazon Prepaid Return Labels (APRL):

In stores where APRL is required for all sellers with a default return address, like in the UK, Amazon automatically enrolls such sellers in the Prepaid Returns Label program. For stores where enrollment in the Amazon Prepaid Return Label program is not required, you will see the following options:

  • Enrolled: You will see an Enrolled if you are enrolled in the Amazon Prepaid Return Label program.
  • Enroll: In stores where the Amazon Prepaid Return Label program is available and you are currently not enrolled, you will have the option to opt-in. To opt-in, click Enroll.

In stores where APRL is not yet available, you will see a gray Enroll.

Label type: If you are enrolled in the Amazon Prepaid Return Label program, your label type will be set to Amazon pre-paid. If you are not enrolled in the Amazon Prepaid Return Label program, you will have the following options:

  • Seller Prepaid: Provide a seller prepaid return label.
  • Unpaid Label: Amazon to provide an unpaid mailing label.
Note: To ensure that buyers see them in the return workflow, we recommend that you upload your seller prepaid return labels in the respective return requests.

Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA):

You can choose who will provide the RMA number by selecting one of the following options:

  • Amazon: Amazon to generate a Return Merchandise Authorization number.
  • Seller: You will provide a Return Merchandise Authorization number.

Labels for Exempt Items:

For returns of SKU exemptions from the Prepaid Return Label program, you will have the option to upload a merchant-paid label or have Amazon issue an unpaid label on your behalf.

  • Seller Prepaid: You will provide buyers with a seller prepaid return label for items exempt from the Prepaid Return Label program.
  • Unpaid Label: Amazon to provide an unpaid mailing label for items exempt from the Prepaid Return Label program. This label requires customers to add postage.

Return Instructions:

Return instructions are shown to the customer when they create a return request. Click Click here to write instructions to compose the message that you would like to communicate to the customer. Examples of such instructions are:

  • Remember to delete any personal information from the device before returning.
  • Make sure to include all components of the product.
  • If you are having issues with the item and would prefer product level support instead of proceeding with the return, feel free to contact us.

Resolutions

A returnless resolution takes place when you issue a refund or replacement and let the buyer keep the product. In stores where the returnless resolution feature is available, you can either automatically issue a returnless resolution via your return settings or work with the buyer via messaging for a specific return.

Go to Returnless resolution for more information.
